43 pp. volume of poetry, index, illustrated with four original engravings, each hand-numbered and initialed "L.B." in pencil. Large 8vo. Cloth boards, housed in original illustrated and hand-numbered paper slipcase. Some minor soiling and small tears to slipcase. Ancona (Bucciarelli) 1960. Limited edition no. 139 of 150 copies. Luigi Bartolini was an Italian poet and artist considered to be among the greatest Italian engravers of the 20th century. He participated in almost every Venice Biennale held from 1928 to 1962, and received a prize for engraving in 1942. During his lifetime he published over 70 books with major publishing houses, contributed to major Italian newspapers and magazines, and wrote the novel off of which the famous Vittoria De Sica film "I Ladri di Biciclette (Bicycle Thieves)" is based. Very scarce; as of August 2017, WorldCat locates only a single holding in a North American library.
