The Oxford edition of the collected poetical works of the notorious author Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in one handsomely bound volume. School prize binding in full calf presented to Lizzie Trimmer for conduct and good work. American poet Longfellow was known for being one of the 'Fireside Poets.' He was an important poet, author of the ever-popular The Song of Hiawatha, and the first American to translate Dante's Divine Comedy. His poems are often known for their musicality and for presenting mythological and legendary stories.This volume is illustrated with a frontispiece. In a full calf school prize binding with five raised bands and intricate gilt tooling to the spine, decorative gilt to the extremities of the boards, with marbled edges and endpapers. Externally smart with some shelf wear and chipping to the head and tail of the spine, rubbing to the spine and extremities of the boards, minor marking to the rear board. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown, dated 1913-4. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to the endpapers, otherwise the pages are bright and clean throughout. Good
