Edinburgh: Gall & Inglis Minor edge and corner wear, lightly scuffed and scratched, some light foxing, former owner's inscription in pencil on the ffep (dated 1886), corners are lightly bumped and rubbed, lightly shelf worn, overall a very clean used copy! Wonderfully well-preserved! Decorative blue cloth with heavy gilt decor on the front cover and spine. No publishing date. Wonderfully illustrated with six steel engravings. 624 unmarked and uncreased historical and poetic pages! "Sir Walter Scott was born at Edinburgh, on the 15th of August 1771. His father, Walter Scott, a Writer to the Signet (an attorney), was a very worthy man, and had a respectable practice. He was related to many of the Border families of the name of Scott, and remotely descended fromt eh house of Buccleuch. His mother, Anne Rutherford, was the daughter of an eminent physician in Edinburgh.". Decorative Blue Cloth. Good+/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Damp stained pages. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Hinges are cracked with exposed netting. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains.

This volume includes both these poems and The Lay of the Last Minstrel amongst others.  With a frontispiece and engraved title page, with six further engravings within the text. Undated, dated from Jisc. In full morocco. Externally, very smart with some rubbing to the hinges and spine. Front joint is starting but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages. Very Good
