Description:
McLoughlin Bros, New York, 1883. Apparent First Edition. Softcover. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. Fantastic copy of a book of children's stories; Cover is string bound, with only very minor damage on the corners; Although I couldn't tell it myself, I have been told by an avid McLoughlin collector that the string binding has been repaired from its original condition; Listing of 63 different "Aunt Louisa's Big Picture Books" on the back cover; There are a few small chips out of the back cover; Each page is about 3/4 of a page for an illustration, and 1/4 page for a story; Illustrations were done with a lot of ink, and are incredibly bright and colorful. They are in wonderful condition; Blank pages were left in between each page of illustration, likely because of the heavy ink used; There are some smudges on the sides of some pages, and on the blank pages; Owner's name on the first blank page; Protected in a plastic sleeve; Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾"… Read More

It is rare for someone to emerge in America who can change our attitudes, our beliefs, and our very culture. It is even rarer when that someone is a middle-aged, six-foot three-inch woman whose first exposure to an unsuspecting public is cooking an omelet on a hot plate on a local TV station. And yet, that is exactly what Julia Child did. The warble voiced doyenne of television cookery became an iconic cult figure and joyous rule breaker as she touched off the food revolution that has gripped America for more than fifty years.
