New York: Harper & Brothers, 1874. Second edition. Hardcover. The Antarctic Regions section, includes discovery & voyages as well as accounts of the Straits of Magellan and the Patagonians. Large 8vo, xviii ,12- 548pp, 6pp adds, 4 pp adds, frontis, 8 chromolithographic plates, 3 folding maps and numerous wood cuts throughout. Half black calf, marbled boards & all edges marbled. Gilt title at red spine label, with gilt decorated compartments and gilt ruled raised bands. Front hinge starting to crack. Internally, light pencil inscription dated 1875; some light foxing o/w very good.
