London: Macmillan and Co. Limited,, 1912. First edition in English, first impression, in a handsome calf binding. Originally published in Swedish in 1911. Octavo (197 x 129 mm). Bound by Spottiswoode in red-brown calf, raised bands, titles and decorations to compartments gilt, double fillet frames to boards gilt, marbled edges and endpapers. Portrait frontispiece, 39 similar plates and 26 maps in the text. Gift inscription to front flyleaf. A couple of small stains to front board, foxing to prelims and endmatter, occasional spotting to text block. An excellent copy. Howgego IV H32 (erroneously dating this edition 1914).
