London, England: Francis and John Rivington, 1851. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Octavo, xxxi + 330 pages, plus 8 pages of ads dated October, 1851; gilt spine titles on reddish cloth (faded red?). A good hardcover first edition overall, generally clean, BUT with significant fraying and chipping to the exterior spine cloth with top and bottom portions missing, cloth worn through to the boards at fore-corner tips; but interior good plus with a few marginal markings, hinges cracked but secure, internal binding solid, paper moderately yellowed and with light scattered foxing with a pencilled inscription on the front endpaper. Though paper yellowed it is not yet fragile and copy could be professionally rebound for better use.
