The scarce first issue of Popular Flying. Edited by W.E Johns, with significant contributions by him. Includes the first appearance of Biggles in the story "The White Fokker" (under the pen name 'William Earle'). Fair condition, with original front cover being in poor state, and rear cover having edge chips/tears. Internally, there is marginal damp staining. Text complete throughout.
William Earl Johns (5 February 1893 – 21 June 1968) was an English pilot and writer of adventure stories, usually written under the pen name Captain W. E. Johns. He is best remembered as the creator of the ace pilot and adventurer Biggles.
