Photochrom Company Ltd; Simpkins, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Co. Ltd, London, 1911. Early Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Single bound volume contains details and photographs of the following cathedrals: Canterbury, Durham, York, St. Albans, Salisbury, Exeter, Peterborough, Southwark, Ely, Chester, Oxford, Bangor and St. Asaph, Lichfield, Newcastle, Worcester, St. Pauls, Lincoln, Southwell, Rochester, Hereford, Norwich, Gloucester, Chichester, Bristol, Truro, Wells, Manchester and Liverpool, Ripon, Llandaff and St. David's, Birmingham, WInchester, Carlisle and Sodor and Man, Wakefield. These 33 parts were initially issued separately by Simkin Marshall etc. and seem to have been later bound together. The plain side of the marbled end-papers and plain secondary end-papers have watermarks for "J Whatman 1911" and crests. Half-leather with darkened and marked green covers, black leather spine and corners with scuffed edges and bands. Splits and wear on external joints but covers are attached securely - rear cover has splits on upper and lower cords and there are splits over internal joints. Clean and bright green marbled end-papers. Light foxing to pages throughout but the foxing does not extend to the sepia plates that are tipped in at one edge. Each of the 33 parts contains 8 photographs. Pages are otherwise clean. Approximate packed weight - 7kg. One volume of the 1-volume set. Undated by publisher. Estimated date only.
