London, Dent, 1940. . First edition, first impression; 8vo; publisher's green cloth, titles to spine in silver, red topstain. Ownership inscription to the front free endpaper, text block somewhat toned, a very nice copy in the rubbed and sunned dust jacket, somewhat frayed and with some shallow chipping at the top of the spine panel.
The great man's first novel of which just 1500 copies were printed. Not so common in this condition.
