Signed by the artist in pencil at bottom edge. Originally issued in Weege's 1967 "Peace Is Patriotic" portfolio. Adorned with photograph of three naked women assuming the position of "Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil," beneath which Weege has added a reproduction of one of Walt Kelly's "Pogo" comic strips.

San Francisco: Happening Press, 1967. Original poster (63.5x48cm.) printed offset in black on white stock; minor wrinkling, tiny closed tear at top edge, else Very Good or better. Signed by the artist in pencil at bottom edge. Originally issued in Weege's 1967 "Peace Is Patriotic" portfolio, the poster depicting a collage at the head of which is simply printed, backwards, "Napalm:." Base photograph shows a Vietnamese man's face disfigured by napalm, overlaid with anatomical drawings of a human skull with and without muscles, a busty chested white woman, and thick feminine lips from which emerge a photograph of what appears to be a mounted cavalry.

San Francisco: Happening Press, 1967. Original poster (63.5x48cm.) printed offset in black on white stock; light wrinkling, faint shallow crease at top right-hand corner, else Very God or better. Signed by the artist in pencil at bottom edge. Collage depicting a film still of Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan as Tarzan and Jane, Weissmuller's outstretched arm superimposed with an anatomical drawing of the muscles of the human arm, from whose hand is dropped a line of arrows pointing downward to an upside down eagle yelling "Help!" from a speech bubble. At right-hand corner is printed the Bible verse "And lo a voice from Heaven saying this is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.

[Madison, Wisconsin], 1967. First Edition. Diptych comprised of two original silkscreen posters, each approximately 60x44cm, printed in red or black on card stock. Faint finger soil and marginal wear else Near Fine. Each signed and dated in pencil, lower right. William Weege was an integral figure in the golden age of printmaking in Madison, Wisconsin, where he first began learning the techniques of both commercial and artistic printmaking as an undergraduate. While working part-time as a film stripper for the local Litho Publications, Weege was also producing protest posters which he put up around campus, though "Students and others in the community found the posters so appealing that they were removed as fast as they were put up" (Colescott, p. 114), leading Weege to discover that he could make money from his artistic output. No place [Madison, Wisconsin ?], publshed by the artist, 1969. Original 1969 screenprint/ mixed media on thick paper measuring 38.5 inches by 28 inches depicting a defiant woman (quite likely the artist's first wife) with sword in hand. Pencil signed and dated lower right, titled lower left, number 22 of 35 copies. A Fine example. William Weege (American, 1935 - 2020) got his start in the mid 1960's with posters promoting counterculture & and opposition to the Vietnam War which "appeared on the streets of San Francisco and soon covered the walls of every young hipster's pad" (~Wisconsin Visual Art Achievement Awards ). His works are held by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
