My working assumption has been that this is a typescript of the original manuscript, however, a previous owner has a handwritten "errata slip" in which are recorded differences between the typescript and the manuscript, including--and this is the interesting part--one part in which "some details in TS re: WD's father differ", one "part of letter missing in xeros [of MS]" and one "page (in Italian) not (according to TS) part of the MS." These may indicate that the TS was edited by someone involved with Rossetti, and at least give authority to the TS. Laid in is a xerox'd page of the MS, and it is clear that the typescript is not merely a transcription, but includes indefinite articles, prepositions, etc. not in the MS and corrects minor grammatical inconsistencies. Was this a copy of a version edited for publication? Unknown, no ownership marks. William Rossetti provides an introduction, and the letters, poetry & biographical matter run to 81 pp.
