About This Item

(Tallahassee, Florida): Naiad Press, 1991. Softcover. Very Good. Reprint. Trade paperback. Faint dampstain on cover with corresponding stains in the margin of several pages, tiny puncture holes on the cover with a long vertical crease on rear wrap, very good. Highsmith's pseudonymous lesbian novel, because its ending leaves the strong possibility of happiness for the two lovers defying the lesbian pulp formula of the time, some consider this the first happy ending in homosexual fiction. The novel was released under Highsmith's own name with the title *Carol* and was filmed in 2015 as *Carol* featuring Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Sarah Paulson.
