About This Item

New York 22: Hastings House, Publishers, 1960. Reprint of Sunday Comic strip: First Edition Thus. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. James Flowers. Quarto (10 1/4" x 6 7/8"), light green cloth with black stenciled lettering on spine, profusely illustrated with B&W comic drawings by James Flowers, archival polyester protected pictorial dust jacket (price-clipped) with image of Prince Valiant highlighted in red-&-black, 96 pages. Prince Valiant in the Days of King Arthur, often simply called Prince Valiant, is an American comic strip created by Hal Foster in 1937. It is an epic adventure that has told a continuous story during its entire history, and the full stretch of that story now totals more than 4000 Sunday strips.

Prince Valiant Book 7. Hastings House produced seven hardback Prince Valiant books in the 1950s, using the illustrations by Foster but with the text simplified by Max Trell and for the last two books by James Flowers.

Very Good copy: tight, clean, unmarked internally with previous owner's name and address on front free endpaper. Light soil and moderate rubbing to still colorful and remarkably complete dust jacket (price-clipped) with edgewear, a 1/2" nick on its lower edge, and wear to the head and especially foot of the dj.
