Columbia, SC: Bostick & Thornley, 1945. First Trade Edition . Cloth. Very Good/Good+. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Elizabeth O'Neill Verner. Evocative 48 full-page etchings with a 17 page introduction by the artist, who has SIGNED the book on the front free end paper. Previous owner's presentation copy to James Benjamin Lampert (1914-1978). Lampert was a U.S. Army Lieutenant General, Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy, and an early pioneer of nuclear weapons and nuclear power. The book is signed by eleven of his supporters. A product of the Beck Engraving Company. Light sunning to top of front board. Some mild soiling to boards. Light age-toning to paper. Interior quite fresh and clean. Unpaginated but well over 100 pages. Unclipped dust jacket, now protected in an archival plastic cover, has substantial wear with a significant tear at spine tail. An attractive and appealing book.
