About This Item

Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Revised and Enlarged. Fine in a Near Fine jacket, unclipped ($4.75), faded at the spine, rubbed at the edges with a small closed tear and some creases. Quarter red cloth with pictorial paper on the boards. Square and firmly bound with a faded top stain, clean internally. Starrett's well received biography of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. "Mr. Starrett carefully constructs his delightful biography of Holmes and succeeds in creating a disarmingly vivid portrait of a man who never lived.
