Boston: Whipple & Damrell. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1840. First Edition. Hardcover. Scarce. Dark green embossed boards, crisp & clean w/ no fraying or edgwear. Hint of boards shows at tips of sharp corners. Gilt Spine. Waterstain to several of first 23 pps, unaffecting text. Foxing to first & last 10-15 pps, rest clean & bright with even age yellowing to outer edges. Overall better than VG given following: Letter laid in on first endpaper w/ sealing wax from Abiel Abbott Livermore (b. 1811 Wilton NH), a Universalist Minister from Keene NH to his uncle E. Abbott dated March 8, 1844 regarding the book as a gift. Inscription on second front endpaper by uncle stating gift from nephew, name, etc... Includes a loose copy of the constitution of the American Peace Society. Digital images per inquiry. ; 706 pages .
