About This Item

The History Press, 2015. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Near fine in near fine dust jacket. Stated 1st UK edition, no number line. Dust jacket hasmild edgewear. Book has minor shelfwear to the edges of the boards. Alan Turing, OBE, was a mathematician, computer scientist, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher and theoretical biologist. He was highly influential in the development of theoretical computer science, providing a formalization of the concepts of algorithm and computation with the Turing machine, which can be considered a model of a general-purpose computer. He is widely considered to be the father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence. At Bletchley Park, Turing played a crucial role in cracking intercepted coded messages that enabled the Allies to defeat the Axis powers in many crucial engagements, including the Battle of the Atlantic. Sir John Dermot Turing, 12th Baronet, is Alan Turing’s nephew and a trustee of Bletchley Park and the Turing Trust. He is the author of “X, Y & Z: The Real Story of How Enigma Was Broken.” An uncommon book. Where possible, all books come with dust jacket in a clear protective plastic sleeve, sealed in a ziplock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, shipped in a box.
