[Philadelphia]: Democratic Negro Campaign Committee of Philadelphia, 1936. Small printed invitation with perforated coupon (still attached), 75mm x 150mm (3" x 6"). Printed one-side only in blue and red inks, with inset portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Small stray ink mark to text at center, light wear; a generally clean, well-preserved example, Very Good.

By 1936, the African-American vote had grown sufficiently, especially in the northeast, that the major political parties began a concerted effort to sway the Black vote in their direction. This ticket, inviting voters to a "Night of Nights" featuring one of the most popular African-American performers of the era (Jimmie Lunceford, here misspelled "Jimmy"), was issued in support of FDR's 1936 Presidential campaign - but we've seen similar pieces during this period employed by the Republican, Progressive, and even Communist Parties.
