About This Item
London: Bracken, 1994. very good. 17 cm, 113, wraps, illus. Kahlil Gibran worked on the manuscript for "The Prophet"--his second work in English after "The Madman"--for several years before it was published in October 1923. Both the author and the world consider this his masterpiece, and it has been translated into dozens of languages. "The Prophet" concerns Almustafa, "the chosen one," who, after exile on an island, addresses such universal themes as love, joy, sorrow, pain, and time. These short aphorisms, functioning as a sort of spiritual poetry, have moved countless readers over the years.
Synopsis

The work has been a bestseller since its first publication.
Reviews
On Jan 21 2012, Asartlover said:
The Prophet is a book that has been around for a long time, but it is still relevant today. The thoughts about marriage and children are so insightful and poetic. It is a pleasure to 'dip into' sections of this book, and gain some understanding of the human condition.
