Copper Plate Engraving Proof. --A Portrait of Sir Edward Coke-- ENGRAVING by JOHN PAYNE. 5.5" x 8"- half-length in an oval, bearded, wearing a skull cap and ruff. Frontispiece to Coke's 'The First Part of the Institutes of the Lawes of England'. Lettered with title around oval, 'Anno 1629' above oval, and 'I Payne fecit' at lower right. Sir Edward Coke, eminent lawyer of Trinity College, Cambridge.......handwritten description on back of engraving. In very nice condition..
