Various proprietary libraries had been established in different parts of the country, and by the middle of the century Massachusetts contained 78 such libraries of various kinds. VERY GOOD- HARDCOVER, some wear to edges of covers, else internally a nice clean tight copy. Label on spine intact.. Hard Cover. Very Good-/No Dust Jacket Present. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

NO creases. NO foxing. 1911. First Edition. With 18 tissue-guarded engraved portraits and illustrations, including a frontispiece. Tissue guards are printed in red with explanatory details. Title page printed in red and black. Complete with tipped-in fold out map of the Library system (locating branches and delivery stations). The map is still fresh and crisp, apparently never unfolded. Top edge gilt. Bound in the original brown boards with a gray cloth spine. Gilt-stamped leather spine label is intact - only a little rubbed. Gilt seal of the Library (1852 : 1878) on the front cover is nearly as bright and shiny as new.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good condition/No dust jacket.
