About This Item
Three large (19 1/2 x 14 inch) sheets printed on one side only, in multiple columns, in a sort of tabloid format - possibly proofs for a special issue "Bounty" publicity piece. They are numbered "2" "3" and "5". Sheet 2 features "The Players" - the cast of characters from the 1962 Marlin Brando spectacular, and "Credits." It gives "Background Information on 'Mutiny on the Bounty,'" photographs of the main players and articles of interest such as, "Descendants of Mutineers Still Living on Pitcairn." In the upper left corner is the manuscript notation, "Portland, June 19, 1963" Glued to the outer edge of the sheet is a pencil note reading, "Opens Wed. at Strand. Preview in Sunday PM." The Strand Theater on Congress St. in Portland, Maine opened in 1918 and closed in 1963. The other two sheets are similar, illustrated with halftone stills from the movie and articles of interest such as, "Leading Woman Never Heard of Brando!" - Maybe not, but shortly after the film was shot, she became Brando's third wife. Old fold marks and a few short edge tears. Three sheets
