London: T. Osborne, 1746. 2nd Edition . Very Good. 5.5 x 8.25 inches (14 x 21.5 cm). Full mottled calf leather binding. Spine with five raised bands, gilt decorated compartments, morocco title and volume labels. Wear and slight loss to ends of spine. Cracking to joints and front board slightly loose, but securely bound. Wear to corners of boards. Title page printed in red and black. Very clean text throughout. Complete with all 10 plates, mostly botanical (including three fold-outs). Leaf X3 has a 7cm diagonal tear from upper corner. Contemporary inscription to verso of title page: 'Ann Dykes, her book'. Spine is labelled as Volume II however this volume is complete in itself. We have Volume I available separately (Virgil's Bucolics/Eclogues). A respected edition of Virgil's Georgics by English botanist John Martyn, with his numerous agricultural and botanical notes. ESTC: T67045. Overall condition is Very Good.
