A group of (14) 1899 sepia tone bromide photos of Puerto Rico during the Spanish American War. All prints are captioned with handwritten labels affixed to page, prints are mounted two to a page on both sides of an album page. Some typical subjects but the more interesting include a cockfight (captioned "the national sport"), murderer of Private Burke of 47th N.Y. Regiment at Caguas, two views made on Independence Day July 4, 1899 of a boat race and barbecue and a shell that damaged a house. Other prints include views of workers pounding coffee, countryside plazas, huts etc. Images approx. 4 1/4" x 6 1/2", Album pages 14" x 11" each. Very good condition, clean prints.
