An examination of the last four months of the life of the great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin (1799-1837). Pushkin was killed in a duel with his brother-in-law, a result of a complicated series of events and interrelationships. This edition rendered into English from the Italian by Ann Goldstein and Jon Rothschild. --- In charcoal paper-covered boards backed in red cloth, with titling stamped in gilt on spine. Dust jacket features details from Grigori Grigorevich Gagarin's painting: "Princess Baryatinskaya's Ball". --- A bright, intact and tightly-bound copy lacking damages worthy of mention.
