Young, a Mormon boy with a 4.0 GPA and a photographic memory, was only an 8th string, lefthanded quarterback at BYU but later became an All American, finishing second in the 1983 Heisman voting. After two seasons with the Tampa Bay Bucs, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers where he was Joe Montana's backup 1987-90. After replacing Montana, he was the NFL MVP in 1992 and 1994 and MVP of Super Bowl XXIX. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
