London, 1947. Book. Very Good. Quarter Cloth. 1st Edition. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. A book written in honour of Captain Samuel Sturmy, 'a tried and trusty Sea-man,' and author of The Mariner's Magazine, 1669. An interesting book with sections on the life of Captain Samuel Sturmy, the seventeenth century background, a general description of his book - The mariner's Magazine - and a section on Sturmy's library. 166pp, 93 b/w illustrations, index. Publishers original grey quarter cloth over illustrated paper covered boards, remains of discolored, foxed plain dust jacket, now in mylar. Minor edge wear, small water stain on bottom front cover, light foxing and tanning to end sheets. Pages are wrinkled, otherwise very clean and tightly bound.
