About This Item
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1984. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7?" - 9?" tall. Simon & Schuster, 1984, First Edition. Hardcover Ex-library Book and Dust Jacket in Good Condition. This book demonstrates the way in which small nations can be destroyed when they are caught in grand and careless strategic designs. The clashes and the convergences of politics and humanitarianism is made clear in this history of the aftermath of America's Vietnam War and the murderous Pol Pot regime which devastated Cambodia after its takeover. This book chronicles the way the world responds to calamity. The author takes as one of his themes the famine which seemed to sweep through Cambodia in 1979 and the extraordinary way in which the Western world reacted to it. The library mylar cover over the jacket has been removed and the dust jacket is quite clean and unmarked with slight wear to head and heel, no library marks. The book is bound in black cloth covered spine with black paper-covered boards which have strips where the tape affixed the library cover to the boards. Edges are rubbed, otherwise clean and unmarked, solid and square. Library pocket on endpaper. Pages are very clean, completely unmarked, no creases or tears. 464 pp. Sources and Index. 8vo. 1984, Simon & Schuster.
