About This Item
London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1925. No dustwrapper, some bumping to spine ends and corners of red boards, also a small (half-inch) tear to the top right-hand side of spine strip, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a good clean tight copy, wit black titles on spine still clear, of this hard-cover novel. No publication date shown, the book was originally published in 1923, but original owner's name written twice on f/ep and next page with dates of 1925 and 1928, so probaby a slighty later edition. The author was best-known in his day for his "McGlusky" series of adventure stories, but this is not one of those, being a historical-romance-adventure set in England in Regency times. Interestingly, the book is dedicated to "His Excellency (Corporal) Mussolini .... as a token that the author has not forgotten a thousand courtesies and kindnesses bestowed by the soldato of Italy during the Great War.....". One of the characters in the story is an Italian nobleman also called Mussolini. I wonder if Il Duce was given a copy.... 316pp.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
