First American printing, good + cloth hardcover (no dust jacket) shows soil and shelf wear to covers with soil in particular along hinge of rear cover, rubbing to edges with spots of rub through at top edge of front cover, creasing to spine, rub spots with touch of fray at spine ends, small closed tear at spine head, bit of light staining at spine, touch of soil at page edges, name at half title, small puncture tear at rear hinge, along with some other mild wear. 331 pages. Still a solid first American edition of the hard to find first installment in the legendary series from Benson.
