First published edition (unauthorized), expurgated state, and with publisher's ad leaf presentadverrtising this editio at 1s. 6d. bds. 182, [1, ads]pp. 8vo. "QUEEN MAB"
(1821 CLARK EDITION, WITH EXPURGATED TEXT AND AD LEAF). This edition was published without Shelley's consent, and the publisher spent four months in jail, on the grounds of distribution of illegal material, and he was eventually pardoned (agreeing to provide all unsold copies to the Society for the Suppression of Vice). Tinker 1888; NCBEL III, 314; originally privately printed in a very small edition in 1813]
