NY: Harcourt Brace, 1933. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good -. Uncommon cocktail book. First edition, 8vo, vi +112, slightly soiled covers, no PONS or inscriptions, firmly bound, narrow brown stain on edge traversing pages 61 - 85 and a few tiny splashes of same throughout. Looks like it was a perfect Manhattan to us (and maybe the third one!).

New York: Harcourt, Brace & Co, 1933. Very Good. New York: Harcourt, Brace & Company, 1933. Stated First Printing. Small octavo; 112pp. Beige patterned cloth. Corners bumped, with chips and scrapes along fore-edge and at head of spine and some general smudging and soiling. Back hinge starting and book opens easily to between gatherings, but binding is secure. First few pages of cocktails section spotted and a few other pages sparsely foxed, else pages unmarked. Small guide to beer, cocktails, and wine, with suggestions for food pairings. Elliott states that choosing your favorite brand of beer is more important than choosing your favorite brand of coffee ("Most people drink coffee because it is hot, but they drink beer because they love it") and that "getting friendly" with your family physician is important, as "He is now permitted to give you a prescription which will enable you to buy a case of good imported wine from your druggist."
