Previous owner's inscriptions to front free endpaper and half-title page. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends. Paper residue and dents to front board edges. Clipped jacket has heavy edgewear with areas of loss, heavy tears, chips, and creasing. Light tanning to spine and edges. Sticker to front panel. Wear marks overall.

Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Clipped jacket has heavy edgewear with areas of loss, heavy tears, chips, and creasing. Tape to inside spine. Light tanning overall.

Jonathan Cape, 1946. Second Impression. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The boards are quite rubbed and marked, but remain strong and whole. The dust jacket is shelf rubbed and edge worn, with small chips, tears and creasing along the edges. It remains whole and bright. Internally, there is a stamp marking and retailer's sticker on the front pastedown, and another stamp marking on the back pastedown, but the rest of the pages within are clean, crisp and complete.
