About This Item

Hardcover, later printing, not a book club. Very Good in a Very Good dustjacket. Black cloth with cover illustration, green lettering and illustrated endpapers. A nice copy, 587 pages including notes, bibliography and index. Square with solid binding and sharp corners, head of spine lightly bumped. Interior is clean and unmarked. The unclipped dustjacket shows original $3.50 price, with edgewear and sunning on spine. Protected in mylar. An outstanding biography of SIr Thomas Stamford Raffles (1781-1826) and his involvement in Southeast Asia. From the dustjacket: "Hahn has taken the blueprint of Raffles' life in Malacca, Java, Sumatra, and finally Singapore and turned it into a brilliant and important biography which throws light on all British colonial policy." Carefully packaged and shipped in a box.
