In 1853, a group of 4 London merchants including Ralph Fitch set sail from London and became the first Englishmen to set foot in India. Ralph Fitch went further and was the first Englishman to reach Burma, Siam, and Malaysia. It was as a result of his travels that the British East India Co. was formed.
