About This Item
Lordsburg, NM: Shakespeare Ghost Town, 2003 Shakespeare Ghost Town, Lordsburg, NM. 2003. Softcover/Trade Wraps. Stated 3rd Edition. Personal inscription by the author on the title page. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: New. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is secure in saddle staples; text is secure in binding. 58 pp 8vo. With a great deal of research, the author has managed to piece together the history of the Burro Mountain Homestead (Mountain Home) from owners to famous and infamous visitors. Since Mountain Home was on the routes from Deming, Lordsburg, and Silver City, it did get considerable traffic from residents, travelers, Stage Traffic, and Apache Indians. Into the history of Mountain Home the author has woven the story of the murder of the McComas family who came from Silver City and stayed overnight at Mountain Home before proceeding on their way to Shakespeare. A map and details of the Indian attack and the disappearance of their son, Charlie, are included. A clean very presentable copy.
