Bound in original black boards with paper spine label. + the Addenda in paperback. 507pp + 52pp. A very good clean set but both have a small "University of Salford" label (stamped withdrawn) to inside front covers and possession stamp reverse of tp, otherwise clean and unmarked. George Plimpton, a New York educational publisher, was a determined and serious collector of Americana and early textbooks.With his academic collaborator, David Plimpton had an unparalleled collection of European and American mathematical texts, leading to the production of this important bibliographical work, which provides full descriptions with useful annotations and facsimiles..
