Ca. 1899-1900. Held in wooded frame behind glass Framed size 44cm x 44cm. Embroidered Surface approx 39cm x 39cm. In very good condition. It has exquisite detailing and many different scenes and still has great colour. It is from 1899-1900 handkerchiefs were mostly used in the Victorian era to display patriotism.

The Daily Mail Ca. 1899. Held in gilded wooded frame behind glass Framed size 47cm x 59cm. Embroidered Surface approx 47cm x 47cm. In good condition. Some foxing & a few small marks. Portraits of Lord Roberts (commander of the British troops) and Queen Victoria frame the text and a detailed map of the region being fought over: Natal, Cape Colony, Orange Free State and South African Republic. Authentic Boer War item. Part of an appeal by The Daily Mail, this item was one of a large quantity of merchandise sold to raise money for soldiers fighting in the South African War and their families. The fund was the first charitable effort in Britain for a war.
