The fifth of Traven's "Jungle" novels is set in 1910 at the start of the Mexican Revolution when the Indian workers in the slave labor lumber camps in tropical Mexico rebel against the owners and overseers of the mahogany camps and begin a treacherous march through the jungles at the height of the rainy season; hardcover First Printing of First Hill and Wang Edition (originally published in Germany in 1938; first U.S. edition, Knopf, 1952); text and boards are clean, tight, square; dustjacket shows small tear on lower edge of back panel, another small tear on upper edge of front panel; front flap is creased, o/w very minimal surface and edgewear.
