New York: G. P. Putnam, 1862. Paperback. Very Good. Pages 265-304, 17-32, frontispiece portrait of Gen. Oliver O. Howard; 25 cm. Beige wrapper with illustration by Richardson. Wrapper title. Frontispiece portrait engraved by A. H. Ritchie. Back wrapper contains advertisement for Heroes and Martyrs edited by Frank Moore. This number of Frank Moore's record of the American Civil War, issued during the conflict, consists of various reports on events in the final months of 1862, including the surrender of Holly Springs, Miss., and a speech by Jefferson Davis before the legislature of Mississippi. The last section contains poetry and short items of interest. In Very Good Condition: wrapper is lightly soiled; closed 2-cm. tear from upper edge of pp. 25-26; otherwise, pages and plate are clean and solid.
