About This Item
Trieste, Italy: David Waddington Publications, 1953. Good. Recall: A Picture Story of the U.S.S. Quincy, CA 71, David Waddington Publications, Trieste, Italy, circa 1953, 9.75 x 8 inches, unpaginated.
Navy blue slipcase with light wear to edges; navy blue boards with faded gilt stamped lettering to front and spine; 1 inch piece of spine missing at top edge, signatures visible; bottom edge of spine rubbed; else clean; interior pages unmarked; contains many black and white photographs; overall good condition.
As the title page states, this is a private edition printed and published for the U.S.S. Quincy. The publisher, David Waddington Publications, appears to have printed similar commemorative books for other military regiments. 'Recall' includes a brief history of the U.S.S. Quincy from 1943 until its decommission to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1945; however, most of the book is devoted to the U.S.S. Quincy's return to active duty in 1952-1953 to serve in the 7th Fleet to support the United Nations forces in the Korean War. The book contains many black and white photographs of the ship and crew during its recommissioning and tour of duty.
Scarce; one copy in commerce and none in OCLC as of February 2024. Likely few copies printed.
