Ink ownership inscription to verso of FFEP; 'Jane Birkbeck / Lynn / 1800', offsetting to title-page, short tear to margin of Q5, occasional ink-spotting to text, marginal marking. A compilation, first printed in 1785, of historical and moral tales designed to inspire a juvenile readership to both virtuous behaviour and an appreciation of the French language, by tutor and founder of the Alfred House Academy, Camberwell, Nicolas Wanostrocht (1745-1812).
