The two volume first edition of Lord Chancellor Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon's final work.Within these volumes the statesman, politician and historian discusses the history of the growth of papal temporal power, and 'papal usurpation of Supremacy', voicing his alarm at papal attempts to remove authority from kings.
