Pristine first edition of this essay gathering. Colorado College president Jill Tiefenthaler, who co-authors the essay "Economics and Affordability," inscribes and signs the title page large and bold in black fineline: "Bob -- / I hope that / you enjoy this book -- / as a proponent of / the liberal arts. / Thanks for all you / have done to promote / a liberal arts / education. / Best, / Jill." Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist -- and his father was Deane W. Malott (1898-1996), noted academic administrator and educator who served as assistant dean at Harvard Business School, chancellor of University of Kansas and president of Cornell University.
