NY: privately printed, 1906. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. Privately printed by the author Julius Paul Meyer, who for many years was the head of the Hamburg- American Line in the US. He entered the shipping business in 1988 with Kunhardt & Co. then general shipping agents for the German line. When the Hamburg- American Line opened its own offices in NY, he joined the staff, advancing quickly to be its executive. 8vo, green suede covers, yapped edges, versos of covers green silk moire, 22, (6). Suede faded to brown as expected most notably about edges, otherwise in remarkably well preserved. Inscribed in German on the verso of the half-title by Meyer and dated Highland Mills, NY Sept 1906. Meyer writes about the early history of the line from the mid 1850s to the 1890s. OCLC lists only 1 copy at NYPL . TRANSATLANTIC SHIPPING.
