About This Item
Boston: Printed for the Reporter, 1831. 40pp. Gathered signatures, stitched. Ex-lib. with number stamps and blindstamps on titlepage, some light scattered foxing and minor staining. Good, untrimmed. This copy does not contain the four-page appendix, printed as a separate signature and possibly not issued with all copies. This pamphlet is said to have been suppressed, apparently because it exposes an affair involving George Washington Adams, son of President John Quincy Adams, alleging that he was the father of an illegitimate child. G.W. Adams died in an accident in 1828, leaving his relatives to keep the scandal under wraps. SABIN 23841.
