About This Item

Boston, MA.: Little Brown & Co, 1999. First Edition, First Printing . Hardcover. COLLECTIBLE - NEW/New. Text/NEW & Bright, w/remainder mark to lower text block. COLLECTIBLE 1999 First Edition, 1st Printing. Gilt embossed bi-color boards/VG w/sticker removal shadow to upper front corner . DJ/NF w/trace shelfwear. Sequel to 1964 celebrated 3rd novel, LITTLE BIG MAN (adapted to film, starring Dustin Hoffman & Faye Dunaway) by celebrated Ohio-born college professor & novelist Thomas Berger (1924-2014). American west historical fiction w/a playful jab at the publishing industry. LITTLE BIG MAN was is a memoir narrated by Jack Crabb to Ralph Snell. Jack Crabb, a 1850s' 10 year old Mormon child, was raised and so named by the Cheyenne --- that narrative ends with Crabb's death --- however the death had been feigned to escape publisher's contractual constraints!!! This 1999 publication is the newly found manuscript, liewise told by Crabb to Snell! 432 pgs, 23 chapters, describes additional Crabb eyewitness accounts to Wild Bill Hickok's assassination, what really happened at the O.K. Corral, his encounters with Bat Masterson, Annie Oakley, Doc Holliday. and ordinary folk --- and, not in the least, travels to Europe w/Wild Bill Cody's Wild West Show, to be embraced by Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales, as well as bearing witness to the murder of Sitting Bull.
