About This Item
Boston, MA.: Little Brown & Co, 1999. First Edition, First Printing . Hardcover. COLLECTIBLE - NEW/New. Text/NEW & Bright. COLLECTIBLE 1999 First Edition, 1st Printing. Gilt embossed bi-color boards/Fine. DJ/Fine. Sequel (?) to the 1964 celebrated 3rd novel, LITTLE BIG MAN (adapted to film, starring Dustin Hoffman & Faye Dunaway) by celebrated Ohio-born college professor & novelist Thomas Berger (1924-2014). American west historical fiction w/a playful jab at the publishing industry. LITTLE BIG MAN are narratives told to Ralph Snell by Jack Crabb. In the 1850s, the Cheyenne raised ten year old Mormon orphan and named him Little Big Man. Bi-cultural in the full sense, he crossed paths w/notables including Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp, Buffalo Bill, and George Armstrong Custer, and shared his rich life with Ralph Fielding Snell. The memoir ends with Jack Crabb's death at age 111. This 1999 publication is sequel!!! Sequel as Crabb's death had been feigned to escape publisher's contractual constraints!!! This publication is newly found manuscript, likwise told by Crabb to Snell! 432 pgs, 23 chapters, describes additional Crabb eyewitness accounts to Wild Bill Hickok's assassination, what really happened at the O.K. Corral, his encounters with Bat Masterson, Annie Oakley, Doc Holliday. and ordinary folk --- and, not in the least, travels to Europe w/Wild Bill Cody's Wild West Show, to be embraced by Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales, as well as bearing witness to the murder of Sitting Bull.
