About This Item
New York: Simon and Schuster. Very Good+ in Near Fine dj. 1959. First Edition. Hardcover. [some external discoloration/staining along the spine (you'll never notice if you leave the jacket on), otherwise only lightly shelfworn; the jacket itself shows only a bit of wear at the spine ends]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the front endpaper; the inscription is to fellow author and sometime screenwriter Ted (Theodore) Strauss, The first novel by Mitgang, who went on to a long career as a journalist, editor and sometime TV documentary producer. It's about a World War II veteran who has a business-related opportunity to return to Sicily, the site of his wartime service, where he also pursues a personal mission to find the girl he had fallen in love with during the war. (Some of the novel's action takes place in the immediate vicinity of Mount Etna, which "begins to smoke and rumble ominously.") Signed by Author .

About ReadInk
Now in our 24th year of on-line bookselling, ReadInk offers an eclectic selection of quality books in a variety of subject areas. We are dedicated to the first-class treatment of every book we sell and its new owner (our customer). All orders and inquiries receive our prompt, personal attention. Our grading of a book's condition is conservative ("Fine" is our highest grade, and used sparingly); all significant flaws are described, but we will be happy to provide additional information and/or a scanned image upon request. Your book will be shipped promptly, well-wrapped and securely packaged; the dust jacket, if any, will be enclosed in a new Brodart cover.
